Date Bars

INGREDIENTS
– 1 c. sugar
– 1 c. flour
– 1 tsp baking powder
– 1/2 tsp salt
– 3 eggs, seperated
– 1 tsp vanilla
– 2 c. chopped dates
– 1/2 c. chopped nuts

DIRECTIONS
Sift dry ingredients. Beat yolks until thick and lemon colored. Add vanilla. Add dry ingredients and mix thoroughly. Add nuts. Fold in slightly beaten egg whites. Spread 1/2″ thick in a greased baking pan. Bake moderately slow in the oven (about 25-35 minutes @ 325, depending on pan). Cut and roll in powdered sugar.
